IKEA wants you to help building a better everyday for the many!
In our shared search for sustainable innovation we have created a unique opportunity to prototype and test new ways of interacting with your nearby nature through designing a temporary nature dwelling.
We now invite you international and young creative minds to enter this 10 day sprint design competition. Submit your digital application no later than 3 april at midnight (CET).
What’s in it for you?

Three winning designs will be built and exhibited at the H22 City Expo in Helsingborg, Sweden, 30 May – 03 July 2022 and the winning proposal will be awarded 5000 Euro

All competition entries will be reviewed by an international jury of award winning architects and designers

The designs and their stories will be featured in design and architeture magazines, and on IKEA’s digital channels with global reach

One team member from each of the three winning designs will be invited to participate in the H22 City Expo, and to present your dwelling design with costs covered by IKEA

How it works
Get started
You can enter the competition as an individual or a team. We encourage forming multidisciplinary teams to inspire and drive innovation.
Design
Design a temporary nature dwelling related to your local nature and deliver it as an Open Source recipe.
Submit
Submit your proposal by uploading your material in the form below no later than 3 April.
Winners are announced
The jury will select three winning proposals that will be announced on 25 April.
The three designs will be built and exhibited as a part of the H22 City Expo in Helsingborg, Sweden, starting on 30 May and running for 5 Weeks.

We are happy to announce the winners of the open competition. The winners were found in a rich and diverse set of proposals, from all across the globe. In a jury with a wide range of professional backgrounds consisting of Anupama Kundoo, Marcus Fairs, Nikoline Dyrup Carlsen, Nelly Ben Hayoun and Marcus Engman, the winners were selected after a set of dynamic discussions.
